Great Nebraska Hunting Information
We are located in Frontier County which has a reputation of being in the top 30% in the state of Nebraska for favorable upland game habitat and are unique in the fact that both mule and whitetail deer roam our property. Our area is also heavily populated with turkey. All of our properties are privately owned or leased. We do not use public lands for our hunts.
We operate very similar to what one would expect and desire with their own personal lease. We provide private hunting, habitat management, wildlife management and the policing of properties without the typical expense of owning your own lease. You also get to take advantage of our game cleaning/relaxation amenities.
We are currently in the process of adding and improving habitat-Stay tuned as these progress into further enhancing our wildlife and your hunt. We have recently planted 70 acres of new habitat strategically placed by our crop fields under the CP-33 wildlife enhancement program.
The photo to the left is my father LaRaye planting permanent perennial grasses and legumes that will further enhance our habitat and your hunting experience.
Enhancement of wildlife all begins here, as we continually work towards improving their habitat.
We have over 2,200 acres available in controlled shooting areas with additional acres available. Turkey and Deer inhabit over 4000 acres.
Pictured below; one of our several food plots strategically planted within other native habitat.

Areas hunted include a variety of native grasses, food plots, corn and sorghum fields, legumes, shelter belts, brush and weeds. Please review our examples of our habitat in the habitat photo gallery.

Topography varies from flat tops to rolling hills, “pockets”, fields, shelter belts and creek
bottoms.

Upon arrival, we gladly give you a tour of our properties, give advice such as traveling patterns, hot spots, etc. and get you in the field as early as possible.

SATELLITE AND AERIAL IMAGES OF OUR HUNTING LAND
The following pictures show the diversity of our area. The combination of crops, range, woods, creeks and food plots make for excellent habitat for wildlife

Another view of the diversity of our properties. This map shows much of our farm ground, with fields shaded to show crops planted. Yellow is corn, teal is soybeans, green is wheat and brown is unplanted land which is range or property set aside for wildlife.

Great habitat, especially for deer and turkey

More deer and turkey habitat. The "fingers" and draws of this field are great for upland game

Headquarters

BLINDS, TURKEY AND DEER DECOYS ARE AVAILABLE
We have available (located in our livestock barn) a warming room where you are welcome to relax or do your game cleaning. Hot/cold water, refrigerator/freezer and microwave are also available. Ice is available along with the necessities for the cleaning and packaging of upland game. A cart is available for assisting in the removal of deer, if necessary.
TOILET FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE
We manage all of our hunts as to not "crowd" in hunters and so that the take of game does not exceed levels so that game populations diminish.
We do not "group" hunters. In other words, you and your companions hunt within your own party. You will not be sharing your hunting experience with unknowns.
PORTABLE RADIOS ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR SAFETY
We gladly give you a tour of our properties (enjoyed while enjoying a little Starbucks coffee) show you the ropes, so to speak, and provide maps to assist you in getting around our beautiful area.
LUNCH PROVIDED AT NO EXTRA CHARGE-When not utilizing the services of Nature's Rural Retreat
A light lunch can be arranged upon request at no additional cost. We suggest homemade sausage sandwiches, with the sausage made right here in Eustis from the Wurst Haus. Other Wurst Haus products are available also.
NO PLANTED BIRDS
Most hunters tell us they cannot distinguish the difference between native and stocked pheasants during their hunt. We do not have flight pens on location. You will not have to be concerned with birds flying back to pens.
As required by state law, we do stock our land with upland game. We manage this in a very unique way. We begin placing our birds from Aug. through Sept. or Oct. We then continue to stock as birds are taken so that there is ample numbers available. This allows the birds to adapt to the environment and become native to their surroundings. When hunting at Great Nebraska Hunting, it is nearly impossible to distinguish stocked game from the "natives."
We do not "place" or "plant" game the day before or hours before a scheduled hunt. If you are looking for an "old fashioned" "the way it used to be" type of hunt, we are the destination of choice----the type of hunt you remember from your earlier days and like the ones your parents and grandparents visit about!!!
HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY
We have laid out trails and mowed paths on our properties that can benefit a handicapped or elderly hunter. Bring your own appropriate transportation and enjoy a great hunting experience!!! Turkey and deer hunters will enjoy a great opportunity for a successful hunt!!
Pictured Below: V. Viswanathan (utilizing a Go Getter) and F. Espinoza on a successful mid September upland game hunt. This hunt was possible through the SANDS (Sportsmen Assisting Nebraska's Disabled Sportsmen) program.
The number one goal of SANDS is to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to get out and enjoy all the outdoor activities that Nebraska has to offer. Please consider donating your time and talent. http://www.sandsusa.org
