Nebraska Quail HuntingNebraska Pheasant Hunting and Quail Hunting

Nebraska pheasant hunting, quail hunting and chuckar hunting is available from September 1 through March 31 on the controlled shooting areas. We offer a five bird bag limit and both roosters and hens may be included in the take.  You may bag two quail or chuckar in place of one pheasant for a total quail and chuckar bag limit of 10. All of our properties can be hunted within the Nebr. state season and with a state license..

At Great Nebraska Hunting, your hunting experience doesn't end with a full bag limit.  Any additional pheasants or chuckar taken are $30.00 each and each additional quail is $15.

With the abundance of moisture in 2011 our habitat is great once again.

We have recently completed our 150th acre of new habitat.  We have also planted two new cedar/shrub wind/wildlife breaks.  We have planted over 1000 new shrubs all for the enhancement of wildlife.

For 2011-2012, Our pheasant and quail populations are some of the best in the last 20 years.

Nebraska Pheasant Hunting, Quail Hunting and Dove Hunting Seasons

We will update regular season date as they are confirmed by Nebr. Game & Parks.

The regular Nebraska Season for pheasant and quail runs from Oct. 29 until Jan. 31. Dove season runs from Sept. 1 through Oct. 30. Dove hunting has been excellent the last several years.

Dove hunters must register with the Harvest Information Program (HIP) which is federally mandated. You may do so as http://www.nehip.com or call 877-634-8687.

Choose your party size

Single hunters are welcome.  Many successful hunts have been achieved by single hunters.  Parties of four to five make for some nice hunting.  Parties of up to 10 are welcome.

Traditional Nebraska pheasant hunting they way it should be

As we offer traditional (some describe it as the way it used to be--hunting on a farm or ranch) style hunting with stocked birds and not planted birds to help supplement nature, one will have to be willing to work our properties hard and be willing to walk through some heavy cover.  Those that are willing to do and are skilled average 3.3 to 3.7 pheasants per day.  Yes, the five pheasant daily limit is possible to achieve.  This achievement has been reached many times.  Even when this goal is not met, most have stated that they had the opportunity to reach this goal and more.  With our style of operation, weather may be the most limiting factor.

Stocking of game

As required by law, we do stock our land with upland game. We manage this in a very unique way. We begin placing birds from Aug. through Sept. We then continue to stock as birds are bagged so that there is ample numbers available.  This allows the birds to adapt to the environment and become native to their surroundings.  When hunting at Great Nebraska Hunting, it is nearly impossible to distinguish stocked game from the "natives."

We do not  "place" or "plant" game the day before or hours before a scheduled hunt. except in the circumstance to assist a handicap hunter.

No flight pens on location--You will not be concerned with birds flying back to flight pens.

Pricing for the 2010-2011 Nebraska Pheasant and Quail Hunting Season

$275.00 per gun per day which includes the five bird limit.  A single hunter is more than welcome.  Each pheasant or chuckar taken over the five bird limit will each be assessed an additional $30.00. Each additional quail will assessed and additional $15.

$50.00-$70.00 per gun per day for guide and dog(s) by appointment only. Fees are based on four hunters. Discounts may be given for five or more hunters. We believe you will have a successful hunt without this assistance.

We request a 50% ($125.00 per gun per day) deposit at booking time. Payable by credit card, cash, personal, business or cashiers check. The remaining balance is due before a hunt begins.

Dogs and Guides

You may question the success of a hunt without dogs or guides but the answer is simple.  We keep our properties stocked with birds to assist mother nature and on the average, we stock about every 10 days.

Well trained dogs can enhance the success of a hunt. The majority of our clients bring their own dogs. Your dog will truly enjoy his or her experience at Great Nebraska Hunting.

Your dogs are welcome at no additional charge.

Proof of Hunters Safety Certificate is required for all hunters between the ages of 12 through 29.

Any hunter prior to their 12th birthday must be accompanied by a person 19 years of age or older possessing a valid hunting permit.

Hunters age 12 through 15 do not need to be accompanied by an adult but again, they must have a hunter education certificate on their person and the certificate must be presented before a hunt begins.
